Within the environment of Antarctica, the application and use of "supermaterials" becomes vital. Here we see the example of a low-tech, hand-stitched tent. The opportunities supplied by extreme environments for the creation by necessity of new materials is fertile ground for the application of digital fabrication.
This is an interesting point of more research. How may these ad hoc assemblages of materials be translated into a digital environment? Understood within a discourse on performance, how may the relationship between predictable computation and unpredictable environments be rethought to produce new forms of agency?
